Emotional Well-Being through Healing of the Canoe

Join us for an engaging session with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe as they explore how emotional healing can be supported through Healing of the Canoe – a culturally grounded life skills and substance abuse prevention curriculum for Native American youth. This session will provide a holistic perspective, grounded in traditional teachings and programmatic best practices, to help participants better understand, implement, and support Healing of the Canoe programs.
When: April 30 at 11:30 am – 12:30 pm Central/12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Eastern
Who should attend: Public health officials, counselors, psychiatrists, social workers, clinicians, youth outreach staff, summer camp staff, Tribal leaders, and others with interest.
Learning objectives: Participants will gain an understanding of:
- The use of cultural practices to restore balance and support recovery from Opioid Use Disorder.
- The principles and practices of Healing of the Canoe.
- Practical steps for offering Healing of the Canoe programs in Tribal Communities.
- Common barriers to providing this type of programming and strategies to overcome them.
