The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) serves as an action plan for USET to support Tribal Nations’ community economic development efforts – assist them in growing businesses, creating employment opportunities, and attracting capital investment that leads to nation rebuilding.  During USET SPF 2023 Impact Week meeting, the first of a series of community outreach sessions was conducted to capture key strategies/initiatives for USET to adopt that help USET member Tribal Nations achieve their economic development goals, define resiliency strategies for Tribal communities that ensure a strong future, and establish a system that continually measures impact. Join future outreach sessions to directly influence the goals and activities of the action plan that will dictate USET’s Office of Economic Development activities for the next five years.

    • USET Workforce Task Force Working Session
Inspired by USET’s Opioid Taskforce, the inaugural gathering of the Workforce Task Force was convened during USET SPF 2023 Impact Week meeting. Members of the Tribal Administration Committee, Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Committee, Tribal leaders, Tribal TERO/employment program staff, Tribal enterprise staff, Tribal college and university subject matter experts, USET staff, and others were brought together to identify cross-sector hurdles and plan responsive activities for workforce response and pipeline development.
This inaugural session was facilitated with graphics to ensure development and promotion of community-based solutions to address workforce development concerns and response. The USET Office of Economic Development will incorporate these notes and next steps to continue this work throughout the next few years.  This session was generously funded by the First Nations Development Institute.
